Tri Sigma was originally founded in 1898 in Farmville, Virginia by eight women. Their names were Margaret Lee Batten, Louise Marie Davis, Martha Trent Featherston, Isabella Merrick, Sallie Jackson Michie, Lelia Scott, Elizabeth Watkins and Lucy Wright.
